Esports teams
Organisations frequently field exceptional squads for just one game; consider the Sentinels in VALORANT in 2021 or T1 in League of Legends almost perpetually. But the truly outstanding organisations have teams that compete in various esports and take home championships. These were the top esports organisations in the world in 2022 after updates on a monthly basis throughout the year.
1. Optic gaming

After winning the Halo World Championship in October, OpTic Gaming surpassed FaZe Clan to take the top slot on Nerd Street's list, and they remained there throughout the year. In 2022, OpTic ruled the first-person shooter (FPS) genre. OpTic also won a Call of Duty League Major, a Halo Major, and VALORANT Masters: Reykjavk, which is a Major in VALORANT, in addition to their Halo championship. They came in second to LOUD at VALORANT Champions, just missing out on the VALORANT world championship.
Since OpTic and Envy merged in the latter part of last year, the rankings also consider Dallas Fuel's Overwatch League performance. The Fuel won the grand finals and so became the Overwatch League 2022 champions. One of the three league events staged before the playoffs, the Summer Showdown, was also won by them. In addition to being the top esports organisation in the world this year, OpTic has titles in four separate first-person shooter (FPS) games.
2. FaZe Clan
In Nerd Street's ranking of the top esports organisations in the world in 2022, FaZe Clan and OpTic Gaming have been neck and neck for the majority of the second half of the year. This is largely due to the success of their CS:GO team in the first half of the year. The first Major of the year was won by FaZe in Antwerp, and they then triumphed at the following two major competitions, IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne. They also won the 15th season of the ESL Pro League and came in second at the Blast Fall Finals.
Atlanta FaZe didn’t win any titles in Call of Duty League this year but still had a very strong season, collecting second-place finishes in three of the four Majors and finishing as the runner-up at the CDL Championship, aka Champs. FaZe’s Rocket League team also had a solid season despite a lack of titles. They were a semifinalist at the RLCS World Championship and finished top four at the Winter Major.
3. G2 Esports

It's difficult to imagine G2 in 2022 without thinking of its former CEO Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez and the consequences of his behaviour while out drinking with Andrew Tate, which is said to have cost the organisation a seat in Riot Game's top VALORANT esports circuit in 2023. However, G2's esports teams have consistently ranked among the best in the world, and the organisation has been among the most successful organisations this year along with FaZe and OpTic Gaming.
The League of Legends squad from G2 participated in the League of Legends World Championship in October. The org's LoL team previously made it to the semifinals of the Mid-Season Invitational in May. In the spring, they were the European champions, and in the summer, they finished second. Rocket League has been G2's second-best game this year behind League of Legends. They came in second at the RLCS World Championship this summer after winning the RLCS Winter Major. G2 Gozen's victory in the VALORANT Game Changers Championship in November helped the team to a great conclusion to the year. Additionally, after five years of Blast World Finals runner-up finishes, the organisation finally won an S-Tier CS:GO championship in December.
4.Team Liquid
5. FURIA

But throughout the year, Rocket League has been where they've excelled. In addition to placing in the top six at the RLCS Winter and Spring Majors, FURIA won the $2 million Gamers8 Rocket League competition in July. They competed in the RLCS World Championship semifinals. It included a surprise victory over the Spring Major champion Moist Esports in the quarterfinals.
